Monkey See Monkey Do Monday - Cherry Blossom Nails

After seeing cherry blossom nails all over the place I really wanted to have a go myself but wasn't sure where to start.  I found this Cute Polish tutorial on You Tube (http://youtu.be/nuc0iNXLZmM) really helpful but I did change the colours a little bit when I did it myself.

Details after the jump.

I used a make up sponge to apply the background.  I used Collection Candy Floss for the pink in the lower part of the background and Barry M Blue Moon for the top.  I then used the striper brush  from the Claire's two way Nail Art Pen/Brush in Black to paint the branches.

Next I broke out the dotting tools and applied 3 lots of colour.  The first you can't really see in the pictures was George Pink Glitz using a large dotting tool around the areas I planned to put the blossoms.  I always thought this was a bit of a nothing polish but it works really well as a glitter highlighter and top coat with tiny iridescent pink, blue and green glitter, so I like it a lot more now.  The next polish was the darker pink NYC Prospect Park Pink.  I then used a really small dotting tool and added NYC Oh SoHo Sweet into the darker pink dots to give more of an effect of flowers.  This was all finished off, as usual, with China Glaze Fast Forward Top Coat.

I think my painting skills need a lot of work and this is a look I will try out again when I've had more practice.  I just love cherry blossom and there are loads of cherry trees round here so I will no doubt be inspired by them again soon.
