Little Night Flower

This week's prompt for 40 great nail art ideas is Fashion.  I based this design on a pair of Marc Jacobs boots. More details after the jump.

The prompt for this week's challenge is red and  I had the added pattern stripes. Due to a close family bereavement I haven't had much time for doing my nails over the past few weeks so my designs have all been things which are fairly quick to do.  This week I thought I would do some rustic looking stripes. I'm a little late with this one, but I've been away.  As my son is currently in the Haematology ward my inspiration for Halloween was vampires and in particular the classic black and white horror film Nosferatu. More details after the jump.

I'm playing catch up with this challenge as I've been really busy at work and not had time to edit the pictures and write up the blog posts.  To make up for this I will be publishing a few posts each day this week. For day 5 I was inspired by the colour combination of two new polishes I bought in the January sales at TK Maxx. More details after the jump.

I got the inspiration for this design while catching up with the tv series Gotham.  The character played by Jada Pinkett-Smith, Fish Mooney, has black hair with red tips and I really like this mix. More details after the jump.

As I'm not religious, Easter for me means creme eggs in multi packs in the supermarket. This design was suggested to me by a colleague at work who had seen it on the facebook page of a local nail bar. On 24 January I went along to a screening of an independent British film called Emulsion ( http://www.emulsionthemovie.co.uk/ ).  It's a very stylish film noir with a fantastic twist at the end and I left feeling inspired. More details after the jump.

It took me a little while to think of something I hadn't already tried and then I realized I hadn't used the saran wrap technique.  This was really easy to do and I rather like the look of the finished effect so I think this will be one I will be using quite a bit in the future. Many bloggers have a love/hate relationship with water marbling ie love the way it looks (when done successfully), hate having to use this technique as it is so darn difficult to perfect. I envy the people in the tutorial videos on You Tube who make it look so easy - drop some polish in a cup, drag a cocktail stick or dotting tool through it to create a pattern and perfectly place your nail in the polish to get the exact design you want on your nail. I have been going to lots of events at the Spirit of Moray Book Festival this week.  I've learned a lot and met some fantastic authors.  I might even have some inspiration for some of the later challenges.  This does mean both the blog and my nails have been a little neglected but I'm getting caught up as quickly as I can.
