Little Night Flower

As I'm not religious, Easter for me means creme eggs in multi packs in the supermarket. This design was suggested to me by a colleague at work who had seen it on the facebook page of a local nail bar. This theme had me a bit puzzled but I while watching tv I was struck with an idea.  This is less about me reinventing a design and more about where I am at in my life.  I'm reinventing myself from the 80s, back when I had time to think about make up and nail polish.  In this vein I thought bright colours and bold print and came up with a tiger stripe design over a bright yellow (very 80s). This was a difficult one because I had to choose favourites.  I cheated a little bit as I used acrylic paint as well but my 3 favourite polishes are in there. More details after the jump.

As I've been unwell for the past couple of months I've not had time to edit and upload all my manis for the 33 Day Challenge so I shall be posting quite a lot in the next few days to get them all online. Not one to do things in order I'm going back even further in the challenge and finally posting my South American inspired mani.  I tried to evoke the bright colours and excitement of the Mardi Gras in Rio with this look. I appear to be playing catch up again.  Prepare for lots of posts over the next couple of days and lots of colour.  Summer has come to an end and it is getting very grey and cold in this little part of the world so I decided my nails needed to be a lot more colourful. I had a few ideas for this and I have maybe taken a few liberties interpreting the theme.  I have interpreted pattern as something you might see printed on fabric and I went for neon paint splatter on black. After much consideration I decided my most used colour polish was NYC Lexington Yellow.  This is my go to yellow polish and there has been quite a bit of yellow used for various challenges recently. Something quick and quirky for today. More details after the jump.

Phew, having a bit of a blogging frenzy this weekend.  As you may have noticed I am also taking part in the 33 Day Challenge organised by the Crumpet's Nail Tarts.  There are only 3 posts a week for this and a small overlap with the 31 Day Challenge but I thought I should stretch myself a little bit.  Hopefully this will inspire me to come up with some new and original designs. My chosen movie for day 23 of the 31 Day Challenge is Despicable Me 2.  Everyone has had a go at painting Minions, but these little guys are just too cute not to try at least once. Anyone for tennis?  Sunday sees the men's singles final at Wimbledon and the UK once again has a chance at a winner in Andy Murray.  With this in mind I have created a mani to show my support. More details after the break.

Lots of posts to upload this week after a quite week away! For Monkey See Monkey Do Monday I have attempted the dotty rainbow from Robin Moses  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gm6019M1O6g .  Many of my MSMD Monday posts have and will be inspired by this amazing artist.  Her explanations of how to apply pressure when painting various shapes has really helped me get to grips with painting on nails with acrylic paint and added a whole new dimension to my nail art. I had a quick practice on a tip to get the technique down. More details after the break.

This week I thought I would have a go at recreating the look from these  Model's Own Wah Nails wraps .  Obviously mine don't look as neat and professional as the wraps which, are based on the most popular designs from the Wah Nails Salons, but I was still pleased with how they turned out. You know those days when nothing seems to go right?  Well I'm having one of those days.  I've picked up the cold that has been doing the rounds and I've been so busy that I totally forgot about theatre tickets I had bought in December so missed out on an evening with the stars from Strictly Come Dancing.  We had gales and dust storms too so a last minute mad dash through to the theatre was out of the question. To cheer myself up I decided to have a go at the tri polish challenge this month.  I came up with a very simple idea for today's mani with dots in the chosen colours.
