Little Night Flower

This week for 40 great nail art ideas I have the prompt pastels with swirls.  I will admit to redoing this look about 4 or 5 times before deciding on this one.  It was quite a hard challenging settling on just one thing for this prompt.  I also had some major nail breaks so I don't have much space to work with at the moment. The theme for this week is 'Things That Fly', so I picked time. There never seems to be enough to do the things you want to do. More details after the jump.

The prompt for this week is Teal.  For all the colour weeks in this challenge each participant is also given a different pattern or technique.  My technique for teal was reciprocal gradient. I thought I would use a stamp to overlay the second gradient rather than the usual tape technique.  This also shows I couldn't make up my mind which pattern to use on the stamping plate so decided to use more than one. For this look I had decided to create decals on a stamper.  However, as I was painting on a nail wheel there was no room to apply the stamp across the whole nail only the centre line. More details after the jump.

I picked up a few China Glaze holographic polishes in the sale at Sally's a while ago and thought I would use a few of them for this prompt.  As the polishes have sci-fi inspired names I went with a space theme. More details after the jump.

For this prompt I wanted something quite bold.  Hopefully I've achieved that with this look. More details after the jump.

This past year my polish collection has grown at a rather rapid rate.  However I seem to have bought an equal amount of colours but pink won out by one polish. More details after the jump.

As I've been unwell for the past couple of months I've not had time to edit and upload all my manis for the 33 Day Challenge so I shall be posting quite a lot in the next few days to get them all online. Not one to do things in order I'm going back even further in the challenge and finally posting my South American inspired mani.  I tried to evoke the bright colours and excitement of the Mardi Gras in Rio with this look. India has such a rich design culture to draw ideas from that the choice is practically overwhelming. I have taken my inspiration from sari fabric for this design. More details after the jump.

This theme has fallen by chance on the day after the announcement of the death of The Pogues's guitarist Philip Cheveron ( see the story here ).  One of his well known songs for the group was Thousands are Sailing , about mass emigration from Ireland to America as a result of the famine.  I thought I would incorporate this idea into today's design as a small tribute.  More details after the jump.

I have been going to lots of events at the Spirit of Moray Book Festival this week.  I've learned a lot and met some fantastic authors.  I might even have some inspiration for some of the later challenges.  This does mean both the blog and my nails have been a little neglected but I'm getting caught up as quickly as I can. First of all I would like to thank everyone for the Liebster award nominations.  I am super busy at work at the moment as I start a new job in 2 weeks and need to get everything ready to hand over before I go.  Also organizing daily posts for the 31 Day Challenge has taken up a lot of my spare time.  However, I will get round to answering all the questions and linking back to everyone's blog when things have calmed down a bit.  This is also the reason I've not been responding to all the lovely comments, but I have read and appreciate them all.
