Little Night Flower

The prompt for this week's challenge is red and  I had the added pattern stripes. Due to a close family bereavement I haven't had much time for doing my nails over the past few weeks so my designs have all been things which are fairly quick to do.  This week I thought I would do some rustic looking stripes. Shades of green made me think of leaves and vines so I created this look. More details after the jump.

I decided to opt for more subtle shades of grey, rather than a sharp black and white contrast for this prompt.  I like to think of this as a rainwashed ombre look. More details after the jump.

I'm rather fond of a bit of monochrome and thought I would go for something with a bit of drama for this theme. More details after the jump.

I have used tape to create quite a few looks so for this one I thought why not leave the tape on to create the design. More details after the jump.

When I first decided to participate in a challenge I came up an idea for dots and had to paint it while it was still in my head.  Apologies for the orange tone of the picture, I was still getting to grips with my camera when this was taken and hadn't quite mastered indoor night-time pictures.  I've seen this look done before but I had a couple of polishes I thought would really work together for this. I'm giving my natural nails a rest today (I'm still wearing the stripes mani posted yesterday) and I've painted some tips instead.  As my cousin has been very supportive of my nail art I had no choice but to do tiger stripes for the animal print theme as they are her favourite animal. Here's a little something for the weekend.  Day 7 of the 31 Day Challenge calls for black and white nails and I came up with this mani. More details after the jump.

I took a few of my nail things with me when I went away on holiday recently.  As we were staying with friends it made it easy to set up a little nail station and start painting to get us all ready for a night out. While we were away we went to see a young American band called Emily's Army on the last night of their UK tour at the Garage in Islington, London.  I was inspired by the album artwork for their latest album Lost at Seventeen and translated this into a bit of nail art.  Emily's Army - Lost at Seventeen Artwork Details and more pictures after the break.

For inspiration I headed to our local library.  I grabbed a few big art books off the shelves and proceeded to flick my way through them sketching ideas as I went along.  One of the books I picked up was about ceramic artists of the 20th Century and a number of designs caught my eye.  For this look I have taken an element and the colours from a design by the artist Charlotte Rhead.  However I have not been able to find a picture of this design online to show you the source material.  However as there were other elements from this particular design I want to have a go at there will be more details in a future post.
