Little Night Flower

The prompt for this week is Christmas. I have taken a traditional route for this and painted Santa stuck in a chimney. My nailbeds are quite curved so it is sometimes difficult to get a picture of an image painted on the whole nail, but I have tried my best. More details after the jump.

The theme for this week is Geeks.  I'm posting late this week as I had to get my geek on and set up the Xbox One my son got for his birthday.  He is finally home from hospital for a few days and getting the chance to use his new console for the first time. More details after the jump.

I really love the work Robin Moses does and her YouTube tutorials are so good for learning the necessary techniques to create nail art with arcylic paint.  I picked this look to recreate because it fits with my ability level at the moment.  I also need to invest in some more brushes before trying anything more adventurous as mine are a bit worn out. I've skipped over a few prompts as I'm not happy with the designs I created.  I may post them up later but for now I'm just going to concentrate on sharing the ones I really liked before moving onto a new challenge and posting more regularly. My favourite brand has to be China Glaze, with a bit of Barry M in the mix too.  I know I have missed out the South America prompt but I wasn't happy with the way this turned out and need to have another go at it, so I will post that one later. More details after the jump.

For the animals prompt I thought I would have a go at a houndstooth check pattern.  While I need more practice at this on I was quite pleased with how this came out. More details after the jump

My polish collection is fairly new and I tend to buy colours as I need them for something, so I don't have too many untried polishes.  However, earlier this year I was lucky enough to win a lovely bottle of Jacava Candy Floss from a competition on the Lucy's Stash  blog. I wanted to find a different kind of image of this one so I Googled Mexican Art.  The results brought up a Mexican Folk Art Tree of Life which I though was very pretty.  I've tried to take a few elements from that design to create this look. More details after the jump.

After much consideration I decided my most used colour polish was NYC Lexington Yellow.  This is my go to yellow polish and there has been quite a bit of yellow used for various challenges recently. Something quick and quirky for today. More details after the jump.

Phew, having a bit of a blogging frenzy this weekend.  As you may have noticed I am also taking part in the 33 Day Challenge organised by the Crumpet's Nail Tarts.  There are only 3 posts a week for this and a small overlap with the 31 Day Challenge but I thought I should stretch myself a little bit.  Hopefully this will inspire me to come up with some new and original designs. My chosen movie for day 23 of the 31 Day Challenge is Despicable Me 2.  Everyone has had a go at painting Minions, but these little guys are just too cute not to try at least once. I'm giving my natural nails a rest today (I'm still wearing the stripes mani posted yesterday) and I've painted some tips instead.  As my cousin has been very supportive of my nail art I had no choice but to do tiger stripes for the animal print theme as they are her favourite animal. This post has taken me quite a while to put together as I wasn't quite happy with the various ideas I came up with for this theme.  While this design could have used a bit more planning it was the best of the bunch. More details after the jump.
