31 Day Challenge - Day 10 - Gradient
I wanted to try out a colour combination for this gradient that wasn't mainstream. I was inspired by this tutorial from Robin Moses on You Tube.
More details and pictures after the jump.
The base of this mani is 2 coats of Beauty UK Frozen Kingdom. This is a fabulous iridescent off-white polish that reflects gold, pink and green - that refuses to show up in pictures. On top of this base I used make up sponges to sponge on several grey polishes. Starting just above my cuticle on the nail I used OPI Suzi Takes The Wheel. Slightly further down I sponged on China Glaze Elephant Walk then Collection All That Jazz. Over the top of this I added Collection Top Coat Sparkle to help the gradient blend together and add a bit of sparkle. To finish the gradient with a bit of solid colour I added a broken line of China Glaze Liquid Leather to the very tips of the nails. I covered all this polish in a coat of Nina Super Dry Top Coat to give a good base for painting on.
The grass and flower details is added in acrylic paint using a very fine nail art brush. I added a little bit of Barry M Red Glitter to the red flowers to give the design more depth. I then added dots of Barry M Silver Foil to the centre of the flowers and a final black centre using acrylic paint.
I think this has created quite a subtle but very sparkly mani and I really like it.
